We Are Breathing!

Let me be clear our current state is uncomfortable! There is no peace, stillness, patience, nor stable leadership in America right now. The anger, hurt, and sadness in our community are impossible for me to adequately describe. We’re all sacrificing right now and putting aside our own needs. Even here at Northend Agent’s because this work is going to require that of us. This Special Issue of Northend Agent’s is the RIGHT and NECESSARY thing to do.

This edition is a transparent conversation amongst our people and our allies. When and if you are uncomfortable with the stances taken and the expression of our outrage know this, we are okay with that. This black press table will be filled with honesty, action, and support for our people’s movement. We have no room for allyship that comes with contingencies. We need the allyship that stays well after this uprising. We need the allyship that intentionally backs our community and black businesses.

We must support ourselves by being aware of our buying power. America has always only responded to violence and a disruption in their dollars. That disruption of dollars needs to continue by solely supporting black and brown businesses. Go out of your way to circulate those dollars with OUR businesses. If you are second-guessing that remember the America we know hasn’t had any mercy or empathy for BLACK people. They have tolerated us and shuffled us around. Regrettably, we have not taken a strong enough stance to prevent that from happening. What are we and our supporters going to do?

This edition is not an attack; it’s honesty so that we can create the action that directly benefits our community for the long-term. I know that we don’t have all of the answers, but if you have any suggestion, comments, concerns or are doing something in the community, please email us at submissions@northendagents.com. I’m also interested in hearing from those who are attempting to do something positive in the community to improve the lives of Black Americans. There’s room for you to be at the table in whatever capacity that works for you. All you must do is show up and attempt to improve humanity.

NEA wants to leave you with this BREATHE. Remember to stop and take a deep breath. Hold that breath and be still with it. Allow your breath to comfort your heart.
