This would be all well and good except I’m pretty sure he’s one of the worst human beings to ever take a breath of life.  It’s one of those classic situations where the message, albeit a good one,  gets lost because the messenger may or may not be a shepherd for the devil.  The truth is Khloe’s appearance has changed drastically since the show Keeping Up With Kardashians premiered over a decade ago.  Most people will absolutely change over a decade long period. Let’s unpack that I recently discovered cellulite on my body for the first time and I wanted to call off work and file a disability claim. All of this totally thwarts my plans for a hot girl summer. I’m 36, so it would be hot till about 10pm and then it’s Netflix time to watch the Duke lick the spoon again. Still not ok with his departure. The Lord giveth and He taketh.  But I digress. Khloe, after years of being tormented about her tall, blond, much curvier body – in comparison to her raven haired petite sisters – decided that nobody was gonna put Baby in the corner anymore. She began working out ferociously. She “allegedly” under went  the knife a time or two to get a polished look to her body and face. Suddenly a swan emerged. The problem with that is that the enhancements seem to be in a constant state of flux. It’s clear that she feels great about her new lithe body and contoured face, but what has happened to make a woman in a makeup free unfiltered photo ,with zero visible body fat, lose sleep over it being released. The public happened.

The case of Khloe Kardashian speaks to a bigger issue and that is the unrealistic expectations social media, and the world for that matter, place on people, but especially women. You want women to have the fantastic body but she can’t look like she works out. She also can’t have any surgical enhancements. She’s supposed to carry and have babies, basically keep civilization going, but you want a 6 pack, no stretch marks, and full perky breasts 5 minutes after giving birth. There’s literally a generation of women in full make up,  mesh underwear and all, propping themselves up in maternity ward bathrooms eager to show the world they’ve snapped back. Women are supposed to be kinky and freaky but no prior sexual  partners. At what point will we just be left the hell alone?

Far be it for me to cape for Khloe or any Kardashian for that matter. They have certainly been problematic during their tenure in the American pop culture landscape, but Khloe represents the monster that is social media and it’s altered reality.  To be fair, there will always be a human need to feel desired  and appealing to others . Who doesn’t like feeling good about themselves and showing up in the world as a force? In all actuality, there isn’t a person with a social media account who hasn’t looked through and analyzed a photo with the precision and eyes of a world class surgeon searching for flaws and imperfections that would make them a target of criticism and ridicule. The difference between most of us and Khloe, is that  millions of people aren’t watching you or buying your beauty brand. For a moment, I actually related to Khloe. Even though she’s a multimillionaire, with a beautiful mansion, a healthy daughter and a world of resources at her fingertips, when that photo hit the public eye she was just like everyone else, wanting likes.
