A Mother’s Day Message By State Senator Douglas McCrory

On Sunday, May 14, 2017 we will rejoice in celebration of the beautiful women who have made many sacrifices to raise their children while providing unconditional love.

My mother is a phenomenal woman with a beautiful soul, and means everything to me.  She is the reason I am the man before you today.  She worked hard to make it possible for her children to succeed, made a house a home and took care of family and friends like they were her own.  That’s what mothers do.  They love, care and nurture in hopes the magnificent person they see inside of you will be an extraordinary person one day.  I see the same qualities in my wife – a very hard working mom who puts her children above all else and will do what it takes to afford them the opportunity to succeed.  Again, that’s what mothers do.

Mothers are generous, kind, strong, brave and thoughtful.  They teach us to never give up on our dreams and to be the best person we can be.  They teach us to be responsible, respectful and to have compassion.  All of this maternal wisdom, passed on from generation to generation, has given us the courage to conquer adversities we are certain to face throughout our lives.

I love my mom and want her to feel special not just for a day, but every day.  I’m sure many of you feel the same.  So, Happy Mother’s Day to All the Invincible Moms who continue to love, care and support their children every hour of the day, 365 days of every year!
