LIL KIM EFFECT By Mind Evolution

If I close my eyes I can see the old you
Your voice is still the same forceful
Making us stop and listen
You made us demand queen be placed in front of the word bitch
If it must be used at all
I apologize for criticism confusing you to the point of being unrecognizable
Your disguise worked I really didn’t know it was you
I ain’t mad at your blond weaves and bleaching creams
Unfortunately you were so pissed off with the man who didn’t choose your version of beautiful
You believed being black meant you weren’t pretty
I’m glad you kept the mole You are not the first woman to fancy Asian beauty
Did you know teenage Japanese girls are trying to look like 1995 you?
Hanging the poster with your eagle on in a cheetah print bikini with mink
Showing black girls they can be sexy and influential I truly believe you know your worth
You spent it on what you wanted
The freedom that being dark skin never allowed
You became the sacrifice Your whiteness rejected and misunderstood
When it’s the result of remaining in spaces where you weren’t celebrated by The not so subliminal messages since slavery echoing about the rightness of being white
It’s the consequence of hearing black women described by venom dripping tongues that simultaneously hiss the glories of every other race of women
White girls got asses now what do black girls have to offer now
Making it hard to find anything pleasing about your reflection
Beauty is unique like body chemistry mixing with sweet perfume
Melanin don’t fit the same on everyone
Your black was commanding I will never judge you for surrendering your magic
This is a heavy bag of tricks to carry It comes with no instructions on how not to internalize all the times you were told
Black women aren’t good enough
Spanish women know how to please a man black women want to be the man
But black women are expected to be strong because no one is coming to the rescue
Tell your daughter she is gorgeous
The world will call her ugly without warning or saying it nicely
Science started a rumor about black women having thicker skin
Do not let them shame her
Even in white face you are powerful
Look how you commanded our attention
With your new features and dimensions
Black girls are still watching We are not all pointing and laughing.
