Phew! On behalf of our newsroom, I can safely say ‘we made it.’ This was not easy, but this years lessons, redirections, and growing pains were worth it. All the blood, sweat, and tears were/ will be fruitful. We want to thank our readers and our supporters.
Northend Agent’s is our purpose and an intrinsic part of the lifeblood in our veins. It is our way of giving back to the world and our community, and we are grateful for your strong backing. We love celebrating, sharing, and giving a platform to BIOPIC people. The way we move through life is an art. An art of navigating a world that sees us only when it wants to see us. And a world that profits off our pain.
2022 made us all huddle a little closer together, seeking the warmth and understanding we can find in our communities. Twitch’s passing was harrowing for many people because he seemed so bright. And to lose a bright light in times of darkness, its impact is felt by everyone. People were reaching out to check on the strong people in their lives. To tell them, ‘Hey you don’t have to be strong; it’s okay to break.’
We were powerful and brave as we spoke out about Brittney Griner, Stacey Abrams, the sexual assault survivors of R. Kelly, Meghan the Stallion, police brutality, and so much more. We earnestly talked about mental health and the crisis in our community. We faced the ugly truths in our lives, and we did not turn away; we spoke up about it.
Good job everyone for speaking even when your voice shakes. Thank you for doing the work to stand in the gap for others and yourself. And thank you to our allies that have spoken out on our behalf and faced hate as a result of it. Thank you, Anthony Huber, for your sacrifice and your protection. You are remembered and honored.
Northend Agent’s has been doing its part to be a soft space for people to land and talk about how they feel. We added words of affirmation and reflection posts on our social media accounts. We had weekly check-ins called Wine Down Wednesday on Instagram. And we continued to ensure that the content we produced was crafted to create a productive dialogue and share perspectives.
We have much more planned for 2023 and hope you will continue this journey with us. If you haven’t signed up for our newsletter, please head over to our website to do so now and keep up with us on social media.
