ACS Young Adult Fund, up to $1,500

The American Cancer Society (ACS) in partnership with Family Reach has an exciting new opportunity to help Young Adults between 18 and 29 years old facing financial insecurity during cancer treatment. Please promote this opportunity within your health system, especially with any pediatric health systems that will support young adults with childhood cancers.

ACS specifically chose this group because it’s the most underserved in the AYA group (which goes up to 39). The goal is to learn more about their needs, capture data at an aggregate level, get some stories that we can use, and build programs from what we learn. The fund ends on December 31, 2024.

Young Adult Fund

Financial support for young adults with cancer so they can focus on what matters most: their health.

About the fund

More than half of young adults face financial insecurity during cancer treatment, compromising their ability to access and adhere to life-saving care. Family Reach and the American Cancer Society launched a Young Adult Fund to help alleviate financial stress for people between 18 and 29 years old with cancer. Together, we’re helping these patients afford food, housing, utility, and transportation costs during treatment so they can focus on what matters most: their health.

To be eligible for these funds, patients must:

  • Have a cancer diagnosis
  • Be between 18-29 years old
  • Be receiving active treatment in the US or a US territory
  • Meet income guidelines of 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) or below
  • Have a member of the healthcare team where they are receiving treatment apply for financial support on their behalf

The maximum grant amount for each patient is $1,500. A Family Reach Navigator will work directly with a member of the patient’s healthcare team to determine the best grant amount based on the household’s needs.
