MDC ANNOUNCES COM New Histories of Black and Puerto Rican Hartford Featured in Fall 2024 Hartford History Lecture Series

Connecticut State Community College Capital and Connecticut’s Old State House are pleased to present the 2024 Hartford History Lecture Series beginning in October. Building upon Connecticut State Community College Capital’s signature Hartford Heritage Project, the series is open to the general public and includes four lectures on Thursday evenings at Connecticut’s Old State House and a walking tour on Saturday, October 12. The lectures will  also be live-streamed. Admission is free. For more information and to RSVP, click here: https://bit.ly/HartfordHistory2024.

“We’re excited to continue collaborating on this series,” says Mariana García de la Noceda, Public Programs & Exhibits Manager at Connecticut’s Old State House. “Hartford has such a rich history. We love bringing to light the fascinating stories of real people living and working in diverse communities within the city. We can learn so much and add context to what we’ve learned about American history by delving into local history.” García de la Noceda works closely with Fiona Vernal, Director of Engaged, Public, Oral, and Community Histories (EPOCH) and Associate Professor of History and Africana Studies at the University of Connecticut and Connecticut State Community College Capital Professor Jeffrey Partridge, who helped launch the series with historian and preservationist William Hosley in 2018. Together they tap into the wealth of local academic researchers and historians’ knowledge to further explore Hartford’s heart. The schedule is as follows:
