2022 By the Numbers

By Girl Trek

2,028,900: The number of Black History Bootcamp downloads! More than a podcast, this is a movement revolution, with people from all over the world walking and talking with us. Need to keep moving this winter? All six seasons of Bootcamp can be found here.

16,160: The number of service hours that our corps of coaches worked this year to organize and support Crews across the country. Our coaches did that! These are the women that power the movement. Their dedication is unmatched andwe are grateful for their service and sisterhood.

134,000: The number of times #GirlTrek was used to share inspiration on the ‘gram. This is instructional! Black women are wearing their GirlTrek shirts while on vacation, while out at community meetings, while representing on the frontlines. They’re If sharing the ups and downs, providing inspiration to other women and motivating women they’ve never met. This is what sisterhood looks like.

49: The number of countries GirlTrek has walkers in! From the refugee camps of Rwanda to the jungles of Costa Rica, it’s filled our heart to learn how the movement is growing organically to reach Black women across the globe.

7,134: The number of Black families who registered for the Black Family 5k. With an average of five family members per race participating, that’s 35,000 people who joined us in this annual tradition. That’s what we call culture change!

3: Glorious days spent in the mountains of Colorado for the #Stressprotest. This testimony from Tasha says it all: “I headed to Denver from Dallas with an insufficient funds bank account, depressed, a marriage sucking me dry, and very little will to keep going every day. My eyes told the story. That weekend I attended my very first GirlTrek stress protest! I left the mountain forever changed. I will never forget how those few days on that mountain revived me, and it transformed my life physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I returned to Texas ready to take my power back, and that is just what I did! The trip that changed my life!!!! GirlTrek saved my life!

Here’s what we know for sure. Next year we are taking the #stressprotest off the mountain and to the women who need it the most. That means we will not return to Colorado. Instead we will be hitting the road and traveling across the American South. It’s going to be more beautiful that you can imagine. Stay tuned for details!

2: Pictures that show us the babies are walking in our footsteps. Women in GirlTrek are not just saving their own lives but we are bringing our families along and creating generational wellness in the process.

48: The number of minutes per day the average Trekker spent this year on moderate/vigorous activity. Take that! That’s 18 minutes over the CDCs’s recommendation levels. Sherri from San Bernardino said, “I’ve lost 60 pounds! My A1C has dropped. I have more evergy than I have had in 20 years. I prayed that God would move in me to change my life and I am now moving each day! Thank you GirlTrek.”

2: The number of women it takes to start a Crew. “Where two or three are gathered” truly God is in the midst. Thank you sisters for going back and to help more women get walking.

1 in 4: The number of GirlTrek women have reported being diagnosed with a depressive disorder. We know that the weight of the world can feel like it’s on you, especially over the holidays. For support, GirlTrek has partnered with Crisis Text Line, to support you when you don’t know where to turn. To help you walk in the direction of your healthiest and most fulfilled mental wellness, text WALK to 741741 and a Crisis Counselor will be there for you. It’s free and 24/7.

3-10-23: The date we do it for Harriet! Mark your calendars and save the date. Harry House Parties will be back next year in a major way!

We love you.
We appreciate you.
We can’t wait to see you next season!
Be well, get rest, take extra good care of yourself.
You are your best thing.
Thank you for rocking with us,
Vanessa, Morgan, and the entire GirlTrek team
